Dr. Kathy Scherler

Dr. Scherler’s research has been presented all over the United States, Europe, and South America. She served on an editorial board for two book publications and her own work has appeared in music journals. She has presented her research at music conferences as well as education organizations such as the International Baccalaureate Organization and the National Academy Foundation.

Dr. Scherler has her Texas Superintendent and Principal certifications and has taught K-12 for twenty years in Texas and Oklahoma. She is a member of the National Association for Music Educators, College Music Society, American Choral Directors Association, Phi Delta Kappa International, World Affairs Council, Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture. She is a recipient of the Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership. She serves as the sponsor for the OBU Collegiate NAFME chapter.

Dr. Scherler’s research focus is capacity building in multicultural music communities and instructional strategies through executive coaching protocols. She remains active as a Soprano soloist and recitalist.
